DAL PELLONI

Dal Pelloni - a name with history

Stefano Pelloni

Stefano Pelloni (born August 4, 1824 in Boncellino di Bagnacavallo, † March 23, 1851 in Russian) was in the 1850s a famous brigand in the Romagna.

Stefano Pelloni attended a private school for two years and was first ferry, and later he earned his living as a bandit.

In the years 1848 / 9 he was therefore in Bagnacavallo in a prison from which he successfully broke out. As a result, he became famous for his brigandage. Popularly called him "Il Passatore", true to his profession as ferries (in Italian: "passatore").

He died in a shootout with the police. His body was conspicuously dragged through the streets of his home.
Today il is Passatore its name to products from the Romagna region, including wines and the famous endurance race 100 Km del Passatore from Florence to Faenza.
